Combat Rules
Think of this as your Combat Textbook (reduced form, for quick reference during battle!).
Melee combat
Targetting: Move next to monster. If a different, adjacent monster is targetted (red outline, stats in stat panel), tap the desired monster to target.
Activation: Tap on a targetted monster.
Effects: Simultaneous attack.

- Hero Health = Hero Health - Monster Attack
- Monster Health = Monster Health - Hero Attack
- The Hero may pick up negative Status Effects from Monster Abilities
- Many Status Effects have a number-of-hits duration, so may end after an attack
- Hero and Monster Attack is displayed in the stats panel. The Attack numbers are modified by Status Effects (in player's Status bar).
If the Attack is modified in a beneficial way for the player, the number will be in Blue. If the Attack is modified in a negative way to for the player, the number will be in Red. - All Hero and Monster resistances, secondary effects etc. are included in the Attack display. So, don't be surprised if your attack does less damage than you expect (for example if the monster has 50% Resist Physical) or the monster seems to have a negative attack value (for example if you will be suck their lifeforce with Vampiric Strike).
Ranged Combat
Targetting: Move next to monster. If a different, adjacent monster is targetted (red outline, stats in stat panel), tap the desired monster to target.
Activation: Tap on the ranged Ability in the ability bar.
Effects: Hero attack only.
Activation: Tap on the ranged Ability in the ability bar.
Effects: Hero attack only.
- Monster Health = Monster Health - Hero Ranged Ability Damage
- The Hero won't pick up negative Status Effects from normal Monster Abilities in a ranged attack
- Many Status Effects have a number-of-hit duration. If the Effect applies to Ranged Attacks, then these may end after an attack.
- On a Ranged Ability icon, the top number is the Ranged Ability Damage, the bottom number is the Energy required.
- Status Effects which increase or decrease Ranged Ability Damage are included in the Ranged Ability Damage displayed.
- Monster resistances are included in the Ranged Ability Damage displayed. So expect to see less damage when you attack a monster with 50% Resist Magic or similar.

XP: You get XP by killing monsters (and that's the only way).
