Player Stats, Healing and Levelling

All you need to know to raise a hardy, strong character for the perils ahead!
Back to documentation index

Player stats

Picture
Your character has a few important stats. Follow them on the image to the left.
Health bar: Your current / maximum health. Don't let this go to zero. Because then you'd be dead!
Energy bar: Your current / maximum energy. Used to power many abilities. No problem if it drops to zero.
Attack #: Number next to the sword. How much damage you do in one hit to a normal monster.
XP bar: Your experience / what's needed for the next level. Kill monsters to get XP!
Level #: Number next to the smiley. Your character level. The higher it is, the tougher you are!

Healing

Picture
There are two main ways to regain health and energy in the game:
Eat Food: Food heals 50% health and 50% energy. Beware of the status effects Poison (which stops food restoring health) and Weakness (which stops food restoring energy). Monsters also heal 50% health when you eat food (think of them chowing down at the same time!).
Level up: Each time you level up, you regain full health and energy.

Player levels and XP

In Dungeon Ascendance, you gain experience points (XP) for killing monsters. At a certain XP, your character has learnt enough to become a little bit more powerful, and so gains a player level.

Levelling up gives you:
  • Higher max health
  • Higher max energy
  • Higher melee attack
  • Higher ability bonuses and damage
  • Higher bonuses from pickups
  • Complete energy and health heal!
